Shin-Etsu Silicone Grease
#41
Have any of you heard of ANY seals that have failed because the owner used something other than Shin Etsu?
Have you?
The phrase containing fool and money springs to mind.
For the record,Shin Etsu is a BRAND NAME for a generic silicon grease. It is recommended by Honda because, guess what, it is Japanese.Any silicon will do.

Thought I would report further, after getting used to the daily shoulder soaking from water dripping from the roof seals - I seem to have cured this completely few down pours since and not one drip.
£5 silicone or £15.. it's worth doing to miss out on that morning shoulder splash

Reminds me, time to do my seals again, 100g tube from Honda dealer 4 years ago loads left cost £6 then, if in doubt haggle. I know there is a big factory in Livingstone with a big sign outside that says Shin Etsu, maybe I should see if I that's what they make and get a big tub over the fence to distribute in small quantities?
