Service history
Hi everyone,
First time poster so be kind!
I currently own a 2.2 VX220 which is fantastic but its time for a change and the GF hates it.
I am going to view an S2000 today on a '55 plate and 48,000 miles looks in great condition however what is puttering me off is the service history. The car has full service history on time but non of it through the Honda dealer network most of it done by a garage called Autotec uk should this put me off? It wouldnt on a VX220 but that's because the Vauxhall dealer network is terrible and most don't know what a VX220 is but my experience of the Honda dealer network is much better.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi and welcome
You're probably going to get a range of answers here, as the quality of Honda dealers does vary quite a lot. Some people will tell you that dealers are rip off merchants who know nothing about S2000s and only trust themselves to do all their servicing, others use independents and recommend them highly, and others (like me) are pretty happy with the service they've received from their dealer.
I can't recall ever seeing any mention of Autotec on here, if you can tell us where they are based, I'm sure someone will have heard of them.
Having said all that, servicing an S2000 isn't that hard, mostly fluid changes - the only "tricky" job is doing the Valve clearances every 27k miles.
A copy of the service sheet is here - check that the jobs listed have been carried out at the appropriate times https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/301...st__p__5798519

It doesn't say on the stamp where they are based.
I will go as see it this morning and hopefully there will be a stack of receipts to back the services up.
The car is for sale in Stockport.
Thanks for the quick replies!

Just hsd a bing search, seems to be some kind of franchise, phone one up with the reg number and you should be able to find what one did the work. Pay them a visit and you should be able to sus them out look at the type of cars they work on etc. Also if the guy you are buying from kept going back he must have been happy with them.
As LG said there are loads of great independant garages who (can) do a better job than (some) Honda dealers ahnd at a fraction of the cost.

Well called the garage selling the car this morning to make sure it was still there before I travelled which it was but when I arrived they sold the car ten mins after I called why they couldn't call me to tell me is obviously beyond them!
Anyway all is not lost been to see another today slightly newer slightly lower mileage and full Honda service history but it is due a service.
Looks like this could be the one it really is in beautiful condition I just need him to budge on the price!

Hi mate
I too moved from a 2.2 VX220, aslong as you find the right S2000 you won't be dissapointed. It isn't quite as 'chuckable' as the VX but it is certainly as much fun and of course a little more room for weekend breaks!
Good luck!
