Selling an S privately

You should try selling a Ferrari.
I had the privilege of meeting possibly the UK's biggest time-wasting prick ever when selling mine; the other 30 or so whom expressed an interest we almost as grim...

There is a car, not an S2000, that i'm looking at and it is 220miles away. There is a near identical car 40 miles away for £1000 less.
However, the far away one has a couple of bits I want. End result is that I ask him if he is willing to deal in that price range and explain to him why.
If so i'll look at the car and buy it there and then assuming it's not a complete shed.

I dont see the problem.
Comes with the territory. You'd be more annoyed if they turned up, took it for a drive and then said they want to pay 1500 less than advertised.
Your car is lovely, but it is on the expensive end.

When I sold my CRX I had it up for £1800, some twunt said it wasn't worth him driving over till I agreed to move on price. So I told him "O.K. how does £1950 sound", he still came down from Birmingham to Cornwall, and I wouldn't budge, he paid £1800.

To expect what is effectively a verbal concession on price during an initial phone enquiry is an absolute cheek, and smacks of trying to be a msart ares. Better & more subtle is to establish whether "there might be room for movement".
A switched on seller is going to be wise and never commit to a price, which restrict his negotiating options.
If I suspect somebody is going to buy just on the price I assume they are trade, and even if not, would disecourage a viewing.
