Selling a Reg No.
Anyone sold a registration number before?
I just need to know what's involved in removing it from the car, and therefore re-registering the car with a new reg, and selling it to someone.
I've tried the DVLA site but I don't think it's talking english.
And, there's always a queue on their phones. etc.
There's someone who wants it so I don't need to go through the "we'll do it all for you" websites.
How much of a pain is it, and how quick is it possible to get it done?
Cheers.

And then I assume that one just flogs the retention certificate for squillions of pounds and job done?
Or probably another three forms to fill in.

Pretty much it, Chris - the new person then sends the form off to DVLA and assigns it to their vehicle of choice.
Do you know who you're selling it to? There's a facility to put the assignee's name on the retention certificate when you send it in in the first place. The problem with that is that if you then want to sell it to someone else, you have to send it back again to get it changed since only that named assignee can use it otherwise.
