Having flown through the back window of a car in a crash I can tell you its not much fun!!!!
Anything that stops this happening is a bonus --- think not ---- I take it you havent seen the pics of the car under the " thank god for honda engineering" topic.....
Was glad to hear they both got out ok!
If it was me I would fit the proper safety equipment and pay for it, but thats up to you, after all, as they say with all safety equipment - it really depends upon how much value you put on your life........

Saying that I don't think it was the seatbelt tensioners that saved their lives.
