I have a one inch scratch on the passenger seat, the back middle red section.

Can anyone tell me if there's a way of making it less prominent, it's lighter than the rest of the seat and my attention is instantly drawn towards it

Thinking of banning everyone from getting in my car but me.

Leather feeder treatment might help, but ultimately you can bye leather dye from the famous auction site that should do the trick, else try a finely applied black permanent marker to the patch. This might fade over time but maybe lessens the attention to it.

It's red so applying a black permanent marker would only draw more attention to it

I don't know the colour code for the red leather so I wouldn't like to chance buying any old red dye.

Sorry my bad, I read it as black middle section. I guess if you can get sone red dye you can try it on an inconspicuous area, but I found liquid leather helps on my red seats

I have a repair kit that has filler and dye for scratches and cracked leather, I will have a look for the part number and let you know, it will be weekend before I can get my hands on the kit though

my wife's jeans have metal rivets which scratch the red leather (we have had words). I got some red leather shoe polish - cost £2something for 500 years supply. Rubbed it in, now you can't see the scratch. Simples

I used the black kit (from ebay about £18) on the beemer and it works extremely well.

Reccomend this product. It comes with a laquer to mix, in order to get the correct 'gloss' or 'matte' level.

I would use it neat and try it first, as even a little of this additive put a lot of matte into the finish.

Works superb though.

I contacted a local upholsterer but they could not help and just suggested I googled for leather repair specialists.

Re: the red shoe polish, is there a specific brand that matches the red leather of the seat? Does it wear off and need re-applying?

Re: Buffalo leather do they do a colour which matches the red of our seats?

And finally, oxhouser, I would be interested to know what part number your repair kit is please.

I cleaned and fed the leather last night but it is still visible, the leather hasn't swelled to fill the scratch which I kind of expected.
