Ok so I gave it a go and its turned out ok, I created another smaller scratch in the process but its hardly noticeable. I havent managed to get a pic of it fitted as im currently a bit nocturnal. There were 2 fixings that were glued in placed or more so moulded, I just drilled these gently with an 8mm drill bit. Then it was a crosshead screwdriver to undo the 2 screws holding it then a flat blade screwdriver to unclip the other 6 clips.

I used any old paint stripper and it worked fine, I did have to do about 3 layers thou to get all of it off. I think I really need to do a forth as ive noticed a few specs still there since.

I'll try and get an install piccy in the next couple of days

Hope this helps

really needs some clear lacquer over it to keep it mint.. bare metal tends to go dull unless you polish it all the time

Thats not metal (thou it looks like it), its plastic. If it gets scratched again then i'll respray it carefully then use laquer for now I like to look at it as a 2nd free chance prior to painting and possibly bodging

Go to the chemists, buy some surgical spirit and rub with a cloth. Takes less than a minute and costs

Cheers for the tip. I have a few specs left where it needs a going over once more. Rather than me taking it all apart again I may give the surgical route a try, i'll let u know how I get on

Wish I'd found it out before I attacked it with fine grit wet and dry!
