S'cameras
What a fun evening I had last night..Got some mates over playing poker, losing badly, but having fun. Then all of a sudden at about 8:30 my work pager goes off. Cr@p I think.
Turns out a server up in canary wharf way has died and I need to go check it out...bloomin typical.
So off I go in the S (easier to drive up)....drive is fine.. guided by my trusty sat nav. I get to london bridge, don't see any change of speed signs... so pootle across following a taxi at about 26mph...half way across I see a flash from somewhere! What the Fook I think....and then see the first 20mph repeater 2/3s the way across the bridge......
Now if I get a points and a fine for driving 26mph I won't be best pleased.
Anyone familiar with London bridge scameras? Do these often work properly?
I don't remember seeing any 20 signs before hand.. And I think I only saw 1 flash...
Oh well life sucks sometimes.
Oh and the machine that crashed was a linux box, died with a kernel panic...so rebooted it and all appeared fine again.(well until further investigation in the morning). At least my call out will pay the fine. {sigh}

Is it 20mph?? I thought it was just Tower bridge that was?
Anyway, why did you cross the river anyway? If you were south of the river then go through the rotherhithe tunnel or if travelling from north of the river then onto the A13 to C Wharf.

I was following the sat nav...Its the route I have done a few times with a colleague and I think is the quickest.
Well the office is at East India Dock rather than Canary wharf.
Curiously on the way back though it took me through the Rotherhide tunnel instead of using the bridge.... I think it got pissed with the bridge

I can see London Bridge from my desk and looking at it now I can't see any speed cameras or 20mph signs.
It could have been a tourist taking a picture of the bridge - that happens all the time (rather surprisingly as the bridge is bloody ugly).

Being just a single flash..It could have been a tourist taking a piccy I suppose.....
or they may have been taking a piccy of a very nice car that happened to be driving past
I didn't see any flash for the taxi that was going the same speed...
I didn't actually see any cameras on the bridge, but they could have been hidden away. but there were camera signs.

Hate to tell you this but it is a new measure that they have brought in with the last month or two - the bridge itself is 20mph and they are catching hundreds of people a day on it. Not to sure it is cameras they are using I believe its the average speed ones - read you plate entering then exiting the bridge.

Is everyone getting Tower and London bridges mixed up? Look what happened when the yanks made the same mistake
I know Tower bridge has 20mph and specs etc. and has done for a while. Not heard of this on any other bridges though.

IMHO you are safe. Unless you are thinking of Tower Bridge?
