I agree...

One of my uni mates has an M3 and he is a good driver and he cant shake me on bendy roads. On the straights he pulls away but I can always get right back on him in the twisties..

Slick - Cusco front upper and rear lower, muz/whiteline front lower (which was a bit of a pig to get in and I'm wondering whether I need to get the alignment done again, as the hardtop didn't fit as easily after putting the braces on!).

Boxster was dog-slow, IMHO...personalised plate, so could have been a 2.5.

335...it was quick, but I'd expected to lose, so was quite pleasantly surprised with how well the S kept up from 40-odd. Don't think he was...

335!!! He didn't like this, as at the next roundabout he slowed BIG-style, down to 10mph or so, before nailing it up the hill. This time, in 2nd gear and well off-cam, he did get away...4-5 car lengths until I called it a day at about 90 leptons.
Which all goes to prove that many BMW drivers are insecure, are constantly desperate to prove something & rely on a badge as a substitute for their numerous inadequacies.

As for a girl in a Boxster, well it's a bit girlie in any case and so awfully common?
Was it silver? Bet it was.

You might be right there but i'd say the same for Audi drivers too unfortunately, what a society we live in where people have something to prove all the time

Saying that I did have fun playing with a 645 barge the other night who thought he owned the road

335's have 300bhp and in excess of 300 ft lbs. of torque. The manual version can also hit 60 in 4.8 seconds (5.7 for the auto).
You are joking right? Or have misspelt it.

Nope.

Spec: (From BMW):
Engine: In-line 6-cyl, 2979cc, 24v, Twin Turbo, VANOS
Max power: 302bhp @ 5800rpm
Max torque: 295lb ft @ 1300rpm
0 - 60mph: 5.5sec

* Some magazines have logged it as being faster to 60 than BMWs claims.

Good on you havok UK though!

For reference: In a straight line, from a standing start, my 330 is easily as quick as my S (yes, the S is "quicker in the twisties..." *yawn*). However, a 335 is quicker in the same 'test' than my 330.

Was following a VX Turbo in the DC5 last week and he couldn't pull away from me - between 80-130 leptons it was dead even (though he had the roof off and a passnger in the car).

Leads me to think that small time differences actually means very little on the road (although I haven't checked the stats for the VXT, I assumed it would be quicker).

Its funny, I race every one in anything, had some great races against some top cars like M3s, Skylines, 350zs even my girlfriends uprated VX220 Turbo (shes a crazy driver)

BUT

There have been occaisions where I have not been impressed like for instance the other night, at the lights, on Red, im in the left lane and a Saxo VTS pulls along side. Lights go Green, he actually takes the holeshot but 6k comes quick and im past, into 2nd pull away a bit more but to be fair I wanted to leave him standing, I was working the S hard just to pull a bit of distance.

I agree with the point that there are fractional differences between many road cars when on the move.

Re: the VX - The advantage the it would have had (high power/ low weight) is lost when on the move (>60mph due to it's 5-spd 'box and long-ish gear ratios in 4th and 5th). It's real strengths are in cornering agility and off-the-line acceleration.

Neil: FYI the official stats for a VXT are that it'll hit 150(ish) and get to 60 in 4.7s in standard form. With a Stg2 remap and some minor mods this can be lowered by a few tenths as the power/ weight goes up...

Lloyd: did you have the Nx on when racing the Saxo?
