With the Alpine system is it possible to have music playing whilst using the Sat Nav system? I think this would be useful on long journeys with long gaps between instructions and it could mute the music when giving instructions.

If you're talking about the 1-Din INA-033R, I haven't tried inserting a CD to listen to whilst using the nav functions but I am 90% sure it's not possible as the DVD-ROM disc contains both route info and the nav software. Other nav systems allow this (I believe the Pioneer does), but if you go off-route by a small margin the nav disc will need to be re-inserted. Not worth the hassle in my view.

However, you can listen to the tuner whilst the using nav, and if you get a CD-changer you can listen to that whilst using nav as well, and sound gets muted when nav instructions are being given.

Getting a CD-changer is highly recommended as the INA-033R can't play MP3 tracks, whereas the Alpine '634 changer does and supplies the ID3 tag info for display in the headunit. One drawback about the '634 is that it only displays ID3 v1 tags limited in character length (32 chars I believe), and it does not allow skipping entire folders on your CD-Rom MP3 disc.

Can't find the previous thread that I posted pics on, but here's a couple:

You can listen to music as long as you have another source, eg:
CD changer
Minidisk changer
etc

the slot in the head unit would be used for the map DVD

That sounds like what I would want, also as the INA-033R is an alpine unit I assume it can use the dash controls using the KCE 865B. Also what coverage does the supplied DVD-ROM give?

The DVD covers all of Europe:

Its database covers nearly all European countries (Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Wales and even the Vatican) and about 100,000 cities on a single DVD-ROM, so cross-border driving is completely effortless. To help you relax even further, the system

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Stop whatever you are doing and get down to your local Halfords. I was just in our local and the guy there told me he had a fax through this morning to lower the prices on most of his ICE stock, including the 1 Din at
