Hopefully not putting a dampener on things, but are you aware that the Ring isn't open to tourists every weekend?
See here for opening times:
http://www.nuerburgring.de/eng/frame_04.htm
I know for a fact that the Ring is open the entire weekend of 16/17 August as this is when I'm bringing a few mates over. Problem is that there is a DTM race that weekend so many of the hotels in the area are fully booked.
PM me if you want anymore information including pace notes, in car footage, etc etc
Cheers
Ben

I'm gonna end up sounding like a right know-it-all, but I've been to the Ring 7 times now and have driven nearly 80 laps. That means I *slightly* know what I'm doing!
Anyway, the weather at the Ring is often totally unpredictable and on my last trip at Easter, we actually had snow in the morning and bright sunshine in the afternoon. Bizarre! In fact, I've never had a trip that's been rained off but I think that's just luck.
The Ring is often open the entire Easter weekend and that's been a good time to go - much earlier than that and you're really running the risk of crap weather. Similarly, going after September is a bit of punt weather-wise, so I've never gone later than August to ensure good driving conditions.
Having said that, my mate Griff_Lurker has been on a rainy weekend and got a lot out of it - frequent changes of underwear excluded. He rates this as one of his better trips and you can play with the car without too much fear of things going pear-shaped. Me, I prefer a nice dry track so will go in the Easter to August bracket and keep my fingers crossed.
Oh, if you wanna see what a nice S2000 looks like on the Ring, see here:

or miscellaneous pictures at:

If these don't work, check out

and go to the "Ring Trip Easter" folder for a taste of what's instore.
