s1 elise is like 110bhp is'nt it. Only quicker in the corners.
I absolutely thrashed a Rover 600 ti today, and could not believe by how much of a margin. They're another car I always classed as very quick, but the reality is very different.

Yup, there or thereabouts. But they weigh about 800kg IIRC. Like I say, you just have this mental law in your mind that says you can't overtake certain cars cos they're too fast, and it's nice when you break that law.
You also need to consider that adding a 70kg driver to an Elise makes a bigger dent in the ratio compared to adding a 70kg driver to an S2000 (or even a lardy 350Z as another example)
A lot of cars that produce a lot of power are also very heavy

IMO only this is nonsense. A heavy but powerful car will keep up and even beat an S in the bends. It is all about the driver behind the wheel. All those who say that the S will leave other cars for dead on bends either are dreaming or are exceptional drivers. Just my 2p

All comes down to power to weight ratio ...... and gearing.

Not quite right, the S2 111S has the 158bhp K series engine. It was the top of the range model until Lotus released the 190 bhp Toyota engined 111R and dropped the list price of the 111S by two grand overnight. 111S owners were a bit pieved
Not the 111S
