Me too - although people with older cars seem generally happy with overall reliability.

It is 3.5 years old ish (jap import and out of warranty period anyway)
What's the mileage and service history (is it as scheduled and who has done it)?

Have all recalls been done?

W6DAN what concerns me is that on average over 3 years you'd do 36,000miles by which time I'd expect any niggles to be ironed out....mine will have done around half the expected mileage over 3 years and it will be just my luck for something to go pop just as the warranty runs out

The misfire/loss of compression symptom could relate to the known issue of the initial spark plug design working loose over time. As a JDM car it would likely not have been covered by the Honda recall program... might be worth investigating as Honda might cover it as a good will gesture given the known design issue...

Find out what the problem is first. Can't plan till you know what's wrong. If the worst does happen, you can get an engine from a UK breakers. One warning - you may need the Loom/ECU, as there are a couple of differences in the sensors at least between JDM and US. So I'd presume a UK engine, may not just drop in - not a big issue though.
