Default S2002 article in this months Evo.

Apparently there is an article in this months Evo magazine about the My2002 S2000. Has anybody has the chance to read this yet?

A colleague at work tells me they are saying some quite nice things about it.

Article is 2002 MY S2000 versus Boxster 2.7

Evo are raving about how much difference the chassis changes make.

Apparently not just alignment but "thinner anti roll bars, beefed up springs, re-calibrated dampers and matured steering feel" as confirmed by Honda press office.

They still prefer the boxster if money were no objective but generally it gets a good write up.

Can't wait for mine to land......

David.

Basically they're saying that the MY2000 and MY2001 were crap ("numb steering", "half-baked", "woolly and tricky to drive", "a missed opportunity") but that the MY2002 is the business.

They say, "Precisely what has changed on the S2000 wasn't initially clear.... more goodies.... a heated glass rear screen.... extra chrome for the xenon headlamps.... No mention is made of chassis improvements..... Even resorting to the web I could find only one comment relating to the 'o2's dynamics an an American chat room which opined that they were 'as before'. Well maybe they are for US S2000s but they certainly aren't for European cars..... A bit more pressure on the Honda UK press office finally turned up some quite significant chassis changes. Essentially they are thinner anti-roll bars, beefed up springs, recalibrated dampers and 'matured steering feel'. The aim of the mods is a 'more linear response' which we take to mean more predictable"

Maybe they should have looked on this board?

BTW, they're road-testing it against a Porsche Boxster 2.7 and pronounce it now as a "solid four-star evo car". So that's all right then.

EDIT - Now compare what these guys say about a MY2001 S2000 !!

Hoorah - a good review.

Dammit - Now that means I really must earn more and trade mine in, still the missus knew I was only ever going to change for a newer version. I am just not a big fan of the pushme-pullyou, oops sorry Boxster

Good article.....the mag drpped through my door this morning and I was happy to see an S2000 getting the praise it deserves.

The best quote for me was:

"The great news is that the new, 2002 model year S2000 has the ability to kick some flabby German Ass. In fact, once we'd tried it, we realised we could save ourselves the effort of group-testing it against its price rivals (Z3 3.0, SLK 230K, 180BHP TT)......"

The car they tested it against was a
