So I've had my S2000 for a few months, and it has recently developed an occasional chirping noise on cold start.

It doesn't always make it, and this is the first time I've recorded it ( after many attempts)

The noise can last for up to half a second

Starter motor / sticking solenoid. Fairly common given the age of the car.

I second what UF said above.

I had a similar sound, which got worse. Read the thread about cleaning/re-greasing the starter that UF posted a while back - I did and am sooooo thankful!

Good luck getting to the top mount bolt on the starter motor!
