Straight line it'll be slower ..

But there is something about sliding the car round a corner with the rear swinging out, up at 9k rpm with the roof down.

It's what the car does best.

Boab, i'd prob only have a JDM Subaru.

The Spec C is a JDM.

It's very focussed! Think its 1250kg and stripped to the bones!

UK ones are more equal from 05 onwards as they got the diff control - still lacking in some areas - still a great car though.

Gee - its not an easy transition from a turbo car at all. It will frustrate the hell out of you until you get going - but give it time and it just clicks!

You can always mod it too.

As an aside, I had a local lad in a heavily modded Starlet keep up with my Evo 8. Loved it, hats off to him!

It's not slow, but I get what you're saying ... they're not a bang-through-the-gears rally slag.

I've had a few M3s, a Supra TT, an Evo 6 Tommi Makinen .... all of which were quicker, but it's not all about out and out speed. I love the driving position of the S2k, the sports car feel and the lightness/fluidity of the controls. It's a superb all rounder.

It's not really a fast car unless the conditions are right, ie a track or open road.

You try outdragging someone and its not great. I struggled to get past some really mundane stuff in a straight line - but there's not much fin in that anyway.

It's certainly not powerful.

But its rewarding and fun which is why we have it.

Combination of the roof thing, the engine thing, the gearbox thing, the looks and the steering for me.

What car do you drive?

I've had big power stuff and you just have to look at all aspects.

Newer hot-hatches are certainly not far behind the S
