[QUOTE=Bibbs,Jan 16 2008, 01:31 AM] The 3.0 NSX was 276bhp (280ps), the 3.2 was 276bhp, and the blueprinted NSX-R was 276bhp.

The R32/33/34 Skylines got more and more torque out of the RB26, but never more than 276bhp.

The Supra in JDM spec (diff turbo's) was 276bhp. The Euro spec jumped to 326, but was more of a GT than sports.

The new Lexus LFA is supposed to be over 500+ BHP (4.8 V10) and lapping Nur in 7:24 .. (I've put a link in the car chat section).

Seems Nur laps are then new bhp.

GeeUK - don't worry about the owners here, they are very opinionated and are happy to have a dig. I don't know why, it just seems to be the norm though . But if you "get" the car and enjoy it. Get one.

I know you say you'll add FI, but I will warn you, it's not cheap. Not by a long shot. Just SC'ing mine is the wrong side of

Just to add i've not had my S2000 long but find it a great car to drive, always have one at least one Honda and i've had many!Damn, i've even worked for Honda for 15 years!

Yes there are quicker cars out there and i've owned a few, including Cosworths and Evos.My Evo FQ300 was superb but didn't need my driver skill input due to driver aids built in.Running costs were rather high with servicing every 6 months and it had a thirsty appetite

Also owned similar roadsters,Boxster and Elise and find the S2000 a better 'all round' car already.

It's not all about 'speed' there are loads more factors we as individuals have to dial in.

That's why I use italics in my "officially" comment above. These cars certainly made more power than quoted, but not to the silly extremes the Germans are up to these days.

The green lobby will almost certainly put an end to it with limits imposed on the car manufacturers for the average CO2/km. Shame...

Top would not be off that often due to not having much storage. I do hate rag tops, but love the car with the top down or with the hardtop on. Just not with the rag up!

Are you trying to help or simply trying to make a mockery of me?

Anyway, back to the discussion.
No; there are simply too many points that seem to contradict or just don't gel.

That may just be unfortunate writing style, but are you trying to make a mockery of us?

I miss Colin Carper's posts like that!

For every 50 Yari and 50 Aygos, Toyota can sneek an LFA out

Is that why the Germans are producing things like the 1-series, MINI, A-Class and so on. Wait for the Porsche/VW merger which'll mean Porsche can carry on doing what it does. Ferrari/FIAT too.

I did think that was Porsche's motive.

Makes the Polo more palatable when you know there is a Carrera GT it's been "twined" with ..

(There must be 1000's of Fabias for each Veyron)

Peak too soon? Ask my dad? Hmmm.

Suggestions like getting a RX8 or 350z are strange. Especially if someone is looking for a car that has the capability of being a drop top, is 2.0, has VTEC, is a Honda, etc etc.

I can see some people dont take kindly to new members and/or drivers of other cars that might not be Honda's. So thanks for the input so far guys and cya.
Go collect the toys and put them back in the pram

Nick has a fair point.

There is a touch of rose tinted glasses on here but it's a bloody good car.

I don't see any anti other marques attitude on here though...

LG's right again;

I'm not sure how these CAFE-style arrangements work (can Honda include quad bikes & SuperCubs?) such that a Bugatti is made by the same company as the A-segment VW bubblecar thingy.

Kind of means that the independent manufacurer is dead.

It sort of makes one feel the Germans might be all out to produce all the BHP now, whilst they still can.

Nah, the German Motor industry is too important to Europe; more so than a bunch of ex-humanities students bumming 'round in Brussels parliament buildings.

I know who to bet on!

The NSX was never officially more than 280 was it?

Parkers says the Supra was 326bhp but was it that high in Japan? R34 Skyline was 276bhp.

But yes, the Japanese are slowly creeping up but nowhere near the level of the German silliness - is a 500bhp M5 Estate really something that's necessary? I need to be careful here or I'll start blathering on about real world speed and we'll all be driving diesels

I know we always want more power, whether we need it is another matter, especially for on-road use...

If you can drive properly (and I'm slowly learning), a combination of high cornering speeds and the S2000's excellent power to weight ratio means that not much will give you any real trouble, although why you'd be racing anyone on the road is a bit beyond me
This is why I was referring to thw "NEW" versions of these cars to come out. 450hp - 550hp on the cars I mentioned. No pretense of 280hp here.

NSX last officially clocked at 290hp.
