Don't forget that Honda are party to the 280bhp 'agreement' of the Japanese manufacturers. 280bhp is pretty easily achieved (if you are Honda) from a relatively small engine with no need for 'impure' forced induction.
If you think about it, for a road car anything much over 300bhp is pretty pointless anyway (other than perhaps on an autobahn)

Hence Nissan are quoting monster figures for the Skyline.
Not sure I agree on the 300 bhp
You always need more.
I do agree there is a limit at which something becomes unusable, but it depends on the car its attached to IMO.

Slow!!! Are you all having a laugh??? Keep her above 6k and not alot can keep up with you, remember they only weigh 1240kg's and despite what UK honda say the actual 0-60 is 5.5 seconds and touch nearly 160mph, but its not all about straight line speed, thats for chavs who cant drive.
I admit in the wet it can be a bit hairy, but the simple answer to that is avoid taking it out in the wet if you can, because in the dry the S will pretty much out handle anything, this thing has got endless grip, and when she does start to slide its very controlable.
And whats all this talk about hard tops??? Driving with the roof off gives you the best driving experience making you feel part of the car, and a better sense of what going on around you, not cacooned inside like every over car, get an RX8 If you want a roof in my opinion.
So the conclusion? Its fast, handles brilliantley, and affordable, stop messing around and get one bought, you wont regret it, I assure you.

The agreement ended a while back - hence the Hp wars going on, and things like 350Z with 305 hp etc., new GT-R, Supra, NSX etc. The "agreement" may have still been in existence at the debut of the S though.
It doesn't matter what you have 300hp, 400hp, 500hp. You will eventually get accustomed to it and want more. Case in point: I know of no stock boost Evo/Sti/GT-R in existence in this country, as if they didn't come with more than enough power.

I always have the roof on
I chose not to have an RX8 becuase I think the inefficiency of the engine is its downfall, plus I like Honda.
I also drive it in the wet a lot - its great fun and even more rewarding if you can drive

Parkers says the Supra was 326bhp but was it that high in Japan? R34 Skyline was 276bhp.
But yes, the Japanese are slowly creeping up but nowhere near the level of the German silliness - is a 500bhp M5 Estate really something that's necessary? I need to be careful here or I'll start blathering on about real world speed and we'll all be driving diesels
I know we always want more power, whether we need it is another matter, especially for on-road use...
If you can drive properly (and I'm slowly learning), a combination of high cornering speeds and the S2000's excellent power to weight ratio means that not much will give you any real trouble, although why you'd be racing anyone on the road is a bit beyond me
