Actually you will find it the same on most modern cars, I remember recently doing a brand new BMW M3 and the paint was the same, the only way we could get a decent finish was using a rotary, anything else would mar the paint.

Try owning a black Nissan! if you breathed on it the paint would discolour

Groan, while putting my new tonneau cover on today it slipped back across the bootlid. Seemed harmless enough. Until i found the nasty scratches it had produced later this evening. Im scared to even touch the car now!

The paint is so soft i wiped some horse cr@p off earlier and marked the bumper!
See...there's you're problem...sounds like the Cr@p was still attached to the horse!!!!

But in all seriousness the paint is weak...and it shows especially with BB, but then, I feel the pain is worth the effort when the black pops in the sunlight

I've started using a cover while mine is in the garage, and I'm a bit concerned that it might be marking the car. It s a kosher Honda cover and it came with a warning that it has to be put on the right way (i.e. not inside out), to avoid marking the paintwork. Still, I'm not completely confident its safe. It slides around all over the paintwork while putting it on/taking it off, and the paint is very slippy, having been Tango'd recently

WiRED, covers are fine as long as they are clean and so is the car. I use mine in the garage more to protect the car from the cat though which loves to sit on the bonnet when its warm.

I've started using my car cover this week (cant drive again until Jan anyway) and i have the same concerns. Helps if you have someone to assist you putting it on.

I would not use one if it was to be daily driven as constantly pulling it on and off i think would not bode well.
