Default S2000 Type-R on the way?

This link was posted on the Honda-R message board. I have no idea whether this is genuine news or not, but read away...

Probably just speculation, only time will tell.

Yup, but it's a thread that doesn't involve either muppets, or broken S2000's

That said, it's quite old, but the info on the gearbox has panned out...

I can see this happening. Boxster and BMW have had to produce more BHP. More power is on the way for Boxster. I don't see Honda getting left behind in the bhp war that's going on out there!

The lack of torque argument deserved or not, is it's biggest put down by critics. If they address that, Honda will have a very competitive and marketable machine.

Hmm the picture is very old news and completely spurious. That said, yes the Boxster is going to get very meaty with the 3.4 in it so maybe Honda will pull out all the stops on an I-VTEC 2.2.... then there was a rustling in the bushes about a certain GT version not too long ago.....

Remember the party that went to Togichi and were assured from the very top that there was no glass window planned for the S2000! Just weeks before it was announced!

Also think about the auto. Wouldn't that benefit from an engine with more torque? So you make a 2.2l, or larger. Since you're making it anyway, it's an easy job to sell a version for the manual car as well. With a little work you could play with the tuning as well, like Honda did for the NSX F-Matic.
Perfectly logical, but pure speculation. The thinking mans muppet post if you like!

LOL.. I love the car the way it is Brian. I've never really bought the idea that it was presented as a fate accomplis though! Evolution is the normal practise with all models. As you say, we shall see.
