I could tell when I swapped HKS to Amuse - it was a better pull.

I could also tell when the tank was full.

Steven is correct

DIY is best (not that DIY)

and Honda won't do it

it will be a run-out rip off, if it happens at all

Could you also tell when you'd had a rather big dump?

The run out positioning of the S2000 will be a definite consideration. Such a product as an R type would help in attempt to position the S2000 as a, "harder" different product to the "softer" replacement, if it isndeed as speculated.

(The naming convention will be interesting. We've had S500, S600, S800, S2000.
Logic might suggest S1000 ?)

Honda have had several S1000 designs over the years - one was a four-cylinder version of the V8 S2000 apparently!

I suspect they'll keep the "S2000" moniker (& probably the tub & suspension, given the closeness in dimensions) for the new car.

Like Bada say, it then makes perfect sense to slide in an "S3500" between that & the ASC. I say S3500, because HSC looked fully production-engineered to me!

run out specials are invariably parts bin clearing exercises

even if the parts are nice

M3 CS is a good example

but unfortunately

Honda don't have any higher spec S2000 bits lying around

and I don't think the NSX leftovers will fit

I remember reading (don't know where) that 5kg was about the equivilent of 1bhp (in acceleration, in cornering and breaking, less is more).

So a 100Kg loss would be good.

Why arn't the USDM and JDM cars known as the S2200 now?

I'd heard mutterings about a CRX replacement like the S2000, B16 lump and S1600 would be a good MX5 alternative.

The car defo needed more poke as the Z4 and Boxter have moved further and further away in performance terms. But how can Honda keep up only using a 4 pot and no FI ?

what's the evidence for that statement?

certainly wasn't the case in the notorious Top Gear wet test

You certainly notice a passenger in a light car such as the
Elise, really makes a dent in acceleration with a fat mate
rubbing shoulders with you.

Russ.
