Before you spend money "pimping" your ride.
Learn how to really drive the S. Really drive it.

Worth mentioning gibbo did own an s2k a few years back.
Personally as I have already said mate get the car to wheels in motion for a geo, get all the cusco bracing and the arbs ( I'd imagine you could get the arbs, front and rear upper and lower braces as well as the floor bar for about 1200) get some kwv3 coilovers, snorkel, gutted airbox and replace the filter for a k&n, get the brakes checked for health and then drive like you stole it. Get up to Watford and I'll take you out :-)

Hi there
I wont be going FI on the S2000!
Got the Mustang for that!
The S2000 is more to turn into a track tool and hoon around, as good as the Mustang handles an S2000 with mods plus some R888's should be pretty good.
Its not a made decision yet as Id love a CSL but Gareth aka Conanius has offered to take us out in his modded up S2000 to see what I think of it.
Only power mods Id ever do to an S2K is intake and exhaust to get the lovely sound.

I've been out in Gibbos Mustang, I'll be laughed at, but I genuinely dont think it is that far behind something like an M3. His Mustang has had a fair few pennies spent though

Somebody mentioned up above 'no issues with 16' .. well i have had both on my car and the difference between 16 and 17' wheels is night and day. The one modification you must do in my view if you get a pre 04 is upgrade the wheels to 17's. The handling is so much improved. I had a similar opportunity as you, that is .. buy a newer S, or upgrade the performance and aesthetic parts of the car, I decided to upgrade the car, I still think that was the right decision.

Ahh.. you pimped your pony.
If you have put proper suspension on it - it will handle.
You need to giv me a pax ride sometime.
IIRC the stock Mustangs still run leaf spring suspension.
30 at that roundabout is quite impressive.
And driving a live axle on some US roads is quite erm entertaining.

Where abouts are you? Got no issues taking you out for a spin.
The Mustangs no longer use leaf springs, its the Corvettes that use leaf springs and considering the new C5/C6 Vettes pretty destroy everything even in corners, look at Z06 and ZR1 which use leaf springs I'd say that the leaf springs on the Vette are not an issue at all.
On the 2004 Cobra Mustang they had full independent rear suspension, but the new 05 cars featured live axles but in every single review/test and end users oppinions the new 05 cars with the live axle were better in every situation over the previous 04 cars.
Yep on stock car you can certainly upset the live axle on bumpy roads and lots of un-even cambers, the watts linkage on mine helps a lot.
A stock Mustang V6 is an absolute disgrace handling wise. The stock Mustang V8 GT is not that bad, its an OK car. The Roush and Saleens which have the uprated shocks, springs and ARBs are a big improvement and certainly bring the car upto and beyond European cars handling wise.
Take it further like I've done and you can get yourself a very nice handling car and on a race track thats smooth a sorted Mustang with a decent driver will hand most cars their ass on a plate.

If you know Conan the Barbarian then you are in not a million miles away. I get to the Surrey meets and occasionally the Herts meet and Ricky run now and again.
I get to the US quite a lot and occassionally book out something better than a Kia Insipid if I'm travelling alone.
The V6 Mustangs are woeful. That's what I got last time from Hertz.
Utter pointless. Even for the US.
A yank tank is on my "to buy" list sometime - Need to get the V8 thing out of my system before we all go onto solar power eco cars.
