You always have to take angled shots for best reflections.
Look at your highly polished red avatar Its also at an angle.
This pic is mabe less angled here:
And this is another Honda this time taken directly from on top:

I think we're on the same page now
I LOVE taking pictures of stuff when it has been polished up - makes all the hard work worthwhile.
Then really old soft lead paint ...
50/50
Favourite S2000 colour
I like the S2000 paint, i just wish it was a bit thicker and less prone to chipping - minor marring and surface scuff I can deal with, think this year it's time to add a rotary polisher to the collection

I have the Milwaukee rotary.
Found it excellent.
I mostly use the DA for wax application.
I also found indispensible the PDG - even to take with you when seeing a second hand car. If you dont own one its a good investment.
There is a thread on DW on how to make your own sun gun. You should make one.
Good luck.
Nice reflections by the way!

When I was at japfest I got taking to a lad who worked in the paint refinishing line at Honda Swindon.
He was familiar with the S2000 and told me they used a more involved technique to paint them in Japan.
Although everyone uses water based now, he definately said the S2000 had more coats applied than a Civic.
And as a result in his professional opinion was a better aplication.

Perhaps he'd have been the chap to explain why my car doesn't have a clearcoat top when every rule and regulation AND paintcode from the time says that it should
Oh and i've checked the paint, it's thin enough to be original and I think Honda blew it on with a straw / hairdryer.
I look at people in carparks driving rusty old mercs or battered jags and i get a pang of jealousy, to be able to be happy just using transport for purely that without GAF about cosmetics or how it drives must be a very liberating feeling.

I do think the paint is really soft, but then again I had a respray in Ibis White (Audi) and then promptly went to Paris for the motor show. Put a suction mount on the bootlid then took it off later to see an indentation in the paint!! After the ferry trip (2hrs is it Calais to Dover?) it had disappeared, but since then I've been scared to put it back on!

My Mum had a 2001 Civic before, the paint was truly woeful on that, the lacquer peeled off, bird lime ate into the paint within days, it was absolutely terrible. So I can believe the S2k paint is better than a Civic of the time, but then the Civic paint really was very very poor quality so it wouldn't take much to be better!
