Default S2000 Not Being Quoted by Chris Knott!

Found this statement hidden in the traders forum from Insurer Chris Knott: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...=660736&st=225

Unfortunately, the S2000 hasn't performed well claims-wise for the insurers and therefore they have ceased offering new quotes on these cars.

This does not affect existing customers who will continue to be offered insurance.
Anyone found this with other insurers?

Now let me see if I understand this. An insurance trader on the S2Ki/S2KUK traders forum will no longer insure S2000s?
Why the feck is he on here then?

I suspect the "typical" profile of S2000 drivers is changing as the cars get cheaper. I guess the "new" demographic crash more.

On the plus side, higher insurance costs should prevent "certain" demographics from owning and butchering the cars.

You don't understand

The insurer (Highway IIRC) behind the scheme, of which Chris Knott is a broker, has decided not to take on new customers, this is because they've lost money.

They will continue to offer insurance to existing customers, although I suspect at much higher premiums, reflecting the actual costs of covering these cars.

One hopes CK will find another insurer prepared to offer cover to new customers at reasonable prices.

I can't see the point in them being in the Traders section now if I'm honest.
This is surely only to get new business and as that's not going to happen........
As lovegroova has said, CK should be going balls out to find an insurance company that will insure S2K's.

I guess that CK have as much right as anybody else to be in Traders as they have no doubt paid up for the year.

Although it is pretty much an S2000 only zone around here, CK do offer many other forms of insurance.

As they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

It is a bit like a trader on here saying that because the market for S2k bits is too small, they will no longer sell them.
CK can stay on here as long as he wants,I just wonder why he would want toif all he is getting is declining renewal business.

ps The quote says "insurers" and "they" (plural) which indicates to me that it involves more than Highway.

Well, it's farily typical of what happens every insurance cycle.

Insurers have suffered very big losses in recent years, this time mostly down to claims farming by Personal Injury Lawyer scum.

What happens is they put up premiums across the board, and retrench towards low-risk business i.e. not S2000s.

CKs insurer(s) will have done exactly the same thing.

This is exactly what happened with hot hatches/Cossies, way back when.
