S2000 market in next few months...
Hi all, been lurking the forums a lot recently. Went to look at my first S2000 today, seriously considering one as next car. Previously had 2x MX5's and currently an MR-2, so it's a logical progression!
There doesn't seem to be a huge amount for sale currently. Is this likely to pick up as we move into Spring?
The classic thought is that sports car prices rise in spring, but conversely, Is it the case that with a wider choice ill be able to find the car I want more easily?
Budget is between 5-7k, age not important, preferably not Silver (sorry!). Worth putting a want ad up on the classifieds?

There are not that many S2000s left, they were pretty niche when they first came out and over the years/winters numbers have fallen. You will always find more for sale in Spring/Summer but don't expect to have the choice you would have had with the MX-5 or MR2!

Thanks, I suppose the rarity of the car has an obvious impact. I am, like you say, used to having rather a lot to choose from!
The one I've seen is actually just about perfect too, I'm being wary of buying the first one you see just in case.

When I got mine at the end of November there were about 90-100 on ebay. Just had a look now and there's 83, so maybe a few less. It's worth waiting at least a little while if you want something in particular. I wanted one that wasn't silver and had the spoiler pack. It was worth the short wait for me.

When you say age is not important, I'd suggest getting some insurance quotes. Huge difference between years.
The numbers will dwindle. Combination of write offs and the cars that are left ending in enthusiast hands who keep them.

I was looking around this time last year before eventually picking on up in April. I didn't notice a massive increase in cars for sale as we got into spring, but they sure seemed to speed up selling, some decent looking ones being sold in a day of going up for sale.

I'm about to take the plunge into S2000 ownership after months of browsing, coming from a turbo MX5. I've been casually looking for the past year and it seems that at any one time there is around 100 on ebay, 40-50 on PH and slightly more on Autotrader.
Prices have (annoyingly for me ) firmed up over the past year, but for 6-7k you do have a lot of choice.
I started looking ONLY at silver/red leather but now am like you snotrag - anything BUT! I'm going to look at a Black/black leather one this week. Will report back - hopefully from the seat of my new S2000!
ETA: When I was looking at insurance last year it was going to be an increase of £300 on my Mazda (ouch) but now I've been quoted only the £25 change cost so it looks like insurance costs are decreasing (or I'm getting older )
