mine is tickedy boo as well. No problems. Interesting to hear this one sold so quickly (if indeed it has) so proves there is a market for the newer cars, good news for everyone I guess if you are planning on selling.

Mine is a GT100 also for the record.

My 09 has not blown a bulb let alone had an engine or vsa failure from New.

As for residuals when my car was in for its 3rd service I had a phone call from the Honda sales manager wanting to buy my car and was offered 16 k for it.

Aren't the last cars plagued with stupid problems? Incredibly low mileage though, agreed.

It really is getting tedious reading this generalised cr*p...

I've got a GT100; so far, no sign of any problems, but I bought an extended warranty just in case. I've been in dialogue with Honda and am happy so far with their attitude should anything go wrong.

Ok the leather is wearing but meh, so what? Think it's called patina on older (more expensive) cars. (That's tongue in cheek by the way)

At a guess I'd say the problems brought up on here are brought up about the minority of cars that have had problems? We could have a thread called "I've got an 09 plate and it's running fine"? But that would be pretty boring, wouldn't it?

Perhaps make the comments if you have had an 09 with problems?

And breathe, rant over...
Whoa whoa whoa. My comments were based upon a conversation with Squeak regarding AE's 100 and their understanding that multiple cars had experienced difficulties.

Please don't mis-construe my comment and having a go nor being derogatory - apologies for it coming across in that way.

There's a GT100 round the corner from my Mum's, one part of me wants it so bad - the other...well, if I HAVE to take out the Honda warranty....it kind of puts me off! I am sure its a small select group that have the issues - but spending 16k on a car that could involve some costly work - esp. now its out of its 3yr warranty too, just puts me off!

What was that a px price against ?

09 S2000 books at £11,700 px. Private sale £12,300. According to Parkers (30k miles).

Plenty of low mileage 09 cars for sale at dealers with an asking price of £14k.

I got rid of my 09 car because it had the dreaded engine rattle and another member of the forum will soon be on his FOURTH engine in an 09 car.

Im surprised they dont have the side strakes, lip and spoiler
Why's that Raz?

They weren't standard fit.

Chris.
Just with it being the run out model it would have been nice to have it fully loaded. Probably just as well it doesn't have them, my girlfriend is looking for a new car and Id probably end up putting a deposit on it for her

08/09 engine failures, VSA modules going kaput, inferior leather on the seats. 02 sensors failing. These are just a few of the issues that the later cars have experienced. I am on good terms with my Honda dealer and you would be surprised with the amount of problems the run out cars are always in with. It's a real shame.
So maybe I have just been lucky. So I should just be grateful. But I'm going to have to keep the car for 20 years as thanks to this forum I will get jack sh*t for it if I ever try to sell.
I see MINIs everywhere. Despite the timing chain tensioners & dodgy DI exploding engines, turbo issues, FRED issues etc etc.

It seems a lot of cars made around that time were bags of shite.

I was an GT100 owner who had a new gear box and leather replaced. I had a 'noise' that I complained of from about 5000 miles but after the gear box was replaced (which looked like someone had had a go at the bearings with a brillo pad) the noise wasn't as obvious so possibly related and not the dreaded engine noise everyone was listening out for.

With regards to pricing, I got from insurers in April 12 approximately £16800 for it with 42k on the clock. I think I did well

No PX ! I had left my car for it,s 3rd service , had been back home approx 2 hr,s when the sales manager rang me asking if I wanted to sell it as he had been looking around it while it was on the ramp .

I told him that I had no intention of ever selling and that I intended to be buried in it

No doubt he was testing my resolve by offering a slightly inflated price .

When I asked why he was so keen to buy it he remarked that my car was in exceptional condition and that , as a dealer they rarely see an S2000 and that the last time they had 1 for sale he could have sold it 30 times over

This dos'nt tie in with the largely negative attitude shown towards the later cars and the residual's .

Another factor affecting resale value's may be area, in that I bought my car from a Honda dealer in Manchester after my local dealer told me they would not be allocated any more .

I paid 19k in Manchester whereas a couple of weeks after purchase my local dealer did indeed have 1 for sale for 23.5 k

As has been pointed out the engine failure rate has been very small ( although not small enough ) and , having followed these threads for over 3 yrs , I agree with some ( including yourself ) that Honda's response ( or lack of ) is totally inappropriate and I sympathize with all those who have felt the need to opt out of the situation .
.

I , like you ,have beat my head against a brick wall trying to find out the cause of these failures and got nowhere

Promises from various sources of a forth coming response from Honda have proved to be fruitless .

You and others have been proven right 100% !!! The warranties have all but expired , and Honda can breath a sigh of relief and walk away .

Some have taken out extended warranties for peace of mind as I nearly did however , I decided not to line Hondas pockets even more because if my engine develops the same fault as described so often here they will be repairing it at their own cost one way or another without me extending the warranty.

However ,I do not expect any failures and refuse to worry about it any more .

In my opinion all S2000's are future classic's

Kind Regards to all .
