If you stomp on the brakes with enough pressure from a high enough speed and they're already baked hot there's a fair chance you'll do some damage to them. Who knows what condition they were in prior to that.

There's been quite a few on here who've cracked their discs badly on track using high friction pads.

I destroyed a set on an old Primera about 10 years ago on the M62 going out of Hull - going fairly quickly and needed to pretty much stop in not enough distance given the speed involved. Cracked the discs in multiple places and split the pads away from their backing, they were spitting burning bits and cracking as well as smoking when i stopped.

Interestingly if you get the hub hot enough then cool the disk you will get a similar effect

The disc in my avatar was a spoon disc.

That wasn't cheap either.

WTF were you thinking - I usually do that to a set of pistons & valves trying to get out of Hull on the M62...
