S2000 buying advice
Hi – I'm looking at buying an S2000 (around 2005/2006 vintage). I have a few questions if you are able to help me;
Thanks in advance.
- Is it worth getting the GT version (I will not be using the car in the winter).
- What should I look for in terms of common issues, what should I check has been done/not done
- I like the Moonrock grey with red/black interior, is there any views on what is the most desirable colour scheme or should I just go with what I like the most
Thanks in advance.

Completely up to you? If you are buying it just for summer and hence roof down action, the answer is obvious (can always sell the roof and fitting kit!)

Again, it's your car, your choice... If I said everybody loves the salmon pink version (there isnt one) would you buy it!?? (moonrock with black/red is tasty)

- look for extensive service history, main dealer is best and a 06 pleate car should have been main dealer history because of waranty.
- check the oil conditiion (very vital)
- great tyres are a must, dont buy one with budgets fitted
as for GT version , the only difference is hardtop and gitting kit, if you find a gt that you like for same money as a non GT buy it and sell the roof and fitting kit for £800+ , wont affect re-sale value as many people have sold roofs seperate.
personally i think grey ones are boring but its all a matter of taste and what you like, im young and nieve so yellow suits me perfectly
i would advise test driving 2 or 3 examples before buying one as they can feel very different

If you have the space to store the roof 10 out of the 12 months of the year, then yes. If not, then don't bother, as they are a pain to put somewhere (especially if you live in a small house or even worse, a flat). Your partner will only moan at you.
As for colour? whatever you fancy – everyone's different.
Also, you'll probably be aware, but any car registered post 23rd March 2006 will be tax'ed in the higher band. This means for the S2000, it's £425 per year for road tax. Something to consider perhaps.

Good stuff in the FAQ, but the things that can cost you money if you don't check thoroughy are:
Roof wear (replacement roof)
Seized geo adjusters
Previous owner not beige fastidious with oil checks/top ups
Worn clutch
Siezed calipers
Rust from a dodgy repair etc.
As said, check the FAQ; it's all there!
Happy hunting.
