the Ferrari provides a massive 'sense of occasion' that is unique to the marque but on driver appeal and satisfaction on the public road it can't touch the S2000

The S2000 you can cane through the gears and still be relatively legal and is lithe enough to thread down a country lane with confidence.......

With the Testa' you have to come to a virtual stop to negotiate speed humps...the S2000 rides them with relative ease

the Supercars are way way too wide and heavy to enjoy on the public road

Added to which people leave you alone in the S2000 and not constantly being challenged to traffic light GP's or vmax runs appeals to me

At the moment with the wonga not flowing at the 'required rate' is the fact that the S2000 is cheap to run....at the moment it's virtually impossible for me to justify going for a ride out at the rate of 11mpg and the associated running costs

That is a big plus point for the S (with the exception that mine seems to attract the "Saxo brigade" who seem to think its an MX5 - until the vtec cuts in anyway - but who needs this?)

but speed isn't everything gazbert - IMO the C4S lacks the poise and fluency of the S2000. It truly is monstrously fast, unbelievably grippy, brakes like nothing else I've driven and sounds oh so sweet. Flattering to the driver in the extreme but to be frank any nutter can drive fast. An AMG Merc will devastate a S2000 in a drag race but you wouldn't compare them as 'drivers' cars would you?

When I drove the Boxster 2.5, I had an MX-5 1.8.

The Boxster perversely felt no faster, had an inferior gearchange and less feel through the pedals/steering. It reminded me of an E30 320i that I once drove. That made me realise that they were not cars for me.

It was for that reason I hung on for the S2000, and I am glad that I did.

Any Knut can go fast, any Knut can lose their licence.

That is why an enjoyable car, such as an Elise or an S2K is more important than a fast one.

It is an unenviable position to have the wonga to trade up, but nowhere to trade to.

So why bother?

If you can't find the car to excite you then trouser the surplus over the S.

I agree with a lot of the posts on this and the other Boxster thread.

Having previously owned a 993 I am VERY pleased to have gotten rid of it and VERY pleased to have bought the S2000. I really enjoy driving the S2000 in all weathers, I could never really say that about the Porker.
