A good call, all an ego does is drop you in trouble or get you killed, as the very good reminder by Bright Red gave demonstrates. All the macho bs is best saved for the track where no-one else can get hurt. (Too much)

True quality drivers prove themselves in Formula One. S2000 philosophy is the same.
Am not Schumacher, I know that for sure!
Besides what other car is so beautiful and has this power?
And at the end of the day... every body know what an S2000 is.
I have seen many people on the streets and they see cars and cars and they say "Look look! S2000!!!" when they see one. For other cars the dont get to excited. And this is because they know what piece of artillery the S2000 is!

Actually also remembered another good reason for not going for it on that road. It's littered with speed cameras on the A34 section. Wouldn't have been good for the wallet either

The real challenge is not on straights but on turns. I judge the ability of a driver combined with the car. I've seen some Audi's, Porches, Ferraris and a Lamborghini pass me slowly next to me trying to make me go for it, but I know I cannot beat them. But when it comes to cornering they act like chickens. The real driver is proves himself there. But then again to prove what? Acting like a child I guess on the streets? I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. People should be more careful and there must be a balance.]
Twists and turns are not the place to prove anything on public roads.
What on earth do you mean by 'they act like chickens'?
All you can 'prove', whilst driving responsibly, is whose car is faster in a straight line.
That won't prove much; it's more of a confirmation exercise. The magazine stats are fairly accurate, so if you do outdrag a Ferrari from the traffic lights - he really wasn't trying or really couldn't be bothered.
To slightly paraphrase your post - the real driver proves themself on a track.

Anyway, wasn't trying to start an arguement and the consensed opinion seems to be that I should chalk it down as a loss and take it on the chin.
Suppose it has to happen once in a while
Suppose it has to happen once in a while

so can someone explain to me how declining a race can ever be construed as a loss?
I can't get that one at all

Best quote for ages!
No2 son has a WRX and I get a fair bit of seat time in it. It's not my cup of tea, to be honest,. If it it had the turbo AND the rev range of the S, THEN, I might want one. It's a remarkably easy car to drive thoogh, in fact it seriously flatters the driver's true ability, so they're best avoided in adverse conditions, where you'd be at a definite disadvantage, with your heart in your mouth and he wouldn't even be breaking sweat.
Not worth it!

The looks I got when i parked it in a housing scheme in Glasgow were worth it. Doubt the young guy and his girlfriend would have looked quite so admirably had the front end been mashed by a fence a few days earlier!
