Default S2000 - 1/4 Mile Times

I went to Santa Pod yesterday, fantastic day really hot not too busy and had a great day.

I went up the strip twice against an Audi S3 and won twice. I think it was more to do with the S3 driver being a bit of a novice than anything else (he only bought the car 2 days ago - used).

I managed a 14.7secs/97mph and a 14.9/96mph. On the first run I dropped the clutch at 5k rpm and got constant wheelspin for all of first gear, I changed into second and shot off. On the second run, I lowered my revs from 5k to 3-4k but got held for too long. The car bogged down a bit and I really started as you would normally.

The bad starts combined with the really hot weather meant my times weren't the best. I was expecting a higher terminal speed, and I am sure the very hot weather is to blame.

There was a 260bhp MR2 doing high 13's that was good to watch. I did get a faster time than all the CTR's that I watched (they were averaging 15.3's) and a brand new ITR that got a 14.9 and a 15 something IIRC.

There was also a chipped TTR (260+bhp) with Miltek exhaust that got the same time as me so 237bhp RWD Vs 260+bhp 4WD was not too bad for me.

I am will be back in either October or March next year for another go and I hope to get a very low 14 with a terminal speed of 100+ which I think is very much achievable.

Wow - those times look good next to the press figures. I think Car & Driver did 14.4 @ 99 and I'm guessing they don't really care about the car.

Were you running full of fuel, near empty etc? Make sure you post if you do a sub-14!!!!

I was running just over half a tank of Optimax with a bottle of Millers for good measure.

14.4 should be easy to obtain IMO, under 14 would be virtually impossible. 14.2 is my target time.

Depends on temp and traction really, I've a video of a guy from the US doing 13.84 with a standard S
It's on S2ki some place.

I have heard of sub-14 sec 1/4 miles in the S but I will need to wait until the colder weather to fully understand what performance defecit from the hot weather really is.

Santa Pod is also uphill, making the times a little slower, but also making traction a bitch.

I really wanted to go to Ultimate Streetcar and it was probably the reason why the Pod was so quiet yesterday, but I have to go to a wedding

Let me know what your times are

I used to have a Vespa that did the 1/4 mile in 13.3 - not bad for 10" wheels!! Feel alot safer in the S though

Did you run standard tyres/pressures. I would have thought higher pressures in the front would have given lower rolling resistance and in the rears might have encouraged the back to break away and keep the revs in the
