Default S2000 0-60mph

Have any of you guys actually properly timed your cars' 0-60mph time? Most of the blurb I've read suggests anywhere between 5.5 and 6.3 secs.

Since the car does 68-ish in second, it would doubtless be a good bit quicker to 60 with lowered gearing i.e. 60mph at 9K revs in second..... has anyone tried this and timed the 0-60mph?

BTW, do any of you here know what the true speed is when the speed reads 60mph in the car??

Lastly, do any of you consider that the 1999-2003 cars were/are slightly quicker than the 04 onwards?! My nurby 03 definately felt a touch quicker than my current nurby 04..... or is it just that the 03 car SOUNDED a bit more raucous!!

TIA,

Mike

That be the difference between Vtec and I Vtec me thinks. (I Vtec is quieter). Same power though, get ready for a tidal wave of statistics and info from everyone !!!

I think I can get to 68 in second..? [EDIT]... Or is it 58?
But when I do this - I'm normally looking at the road not the speedo.

I'll try it out tomorrow ( quiet motorway pending ).

The car has got slightly heavier over the years.

MIRA tested the 00 car at 5.5s IIRC.

I'm certain that by the time the orange-post-9K-rpm-zone flashes on my car, it's doing 40/41-ish in first, 67-68-ish in second and 92/93-ish in third. Haven't tried the other gears. Yet.

the most common lowered final drive ratio (which I recently fitted) drops second to 5or 59 so it takes longer to get to 60.

At around 90mph, the speedo on mine reads about 3-4 mph over the actual speed (as measured by a GPS).

At about 30mpg, they agree dead on.

Between 30 and 90, the error seems to increase linearly, so at 60, I reckon it reads about 1.5-2 mph over actual speed.....

Not that I was bored on a long drive to Wales on the M4....

No reason why they should be - there was no change to engine or gearing (AFAIK) between 99-03 and 04+.

Can't say that I felt that there was any performance differential between my 02 and my 04.

Only VTEC for the S2000. The MY04 onwards cars have a smoother VTEC transition but still, it's not I-VTEC.
