Storming Jock

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Hope they die a horrible slow painful death.

Good luck with your insurance company.

Sorry to hear your bad news

I seem to remember this happened a couple of times this time last year.

Thoughts were:

Hide keys/get a safe (including spares)
Get an alarm you can part set at night
Take keys with you when you leave the house

You can NEVER be too careful

Sorry to hear this. Amersham is not far from me !!

Hope this is not a trend now that the S2000 is perceived as a desirable car (not that it wasn't in the first place of course) after the JC praise on Top Gear - stolen to order ? Keep an eye on that rear view mirror when getting close to home !

would anyone seriously steal an S2k to order though....surely opportunist....maybe they went for the Golf primarily and took the S2k for the hell of it?

I would say 90% of S2's are stolen to order. Why else would you steal one?

I'd have thought the market for 'stolen' S2000's would be low...not so easy to shift onwards

Difficult to say whether they were opportunist or not. Normally there is someone around in the house but of course this was not the case yesterday which makes me think they must have been watching the place.

A BMW was stolen around about the same time not a million miles away from Amersham so they think it may have been a gang.

Safe for keys and alarm now top of the list.

Might be worth investing in an alarm too
My only problem with a safe to lock your car keys in is that the thieves if brazen and hard enough will just come up to your bedroom if at night and threaten you / your partner until they get the keys.

If someone wants to break into my house to steal my car, they are welcome to it and I am not about to threaten the lives of me or my gf to stop them, the cars just aren't worth that much to me.

I leave my keys downstairs most nights, and my gf's keys are next to our bed in case of a fire. Our spare keys are securely locked away however.

Jock, hope you get everything sorted with the Ins company, hope they treat you well

I agree, hence stolen to order, meaning there is a buyer already. The car just needs to meet the buyers spec.
