Not interested in picking up chicks though.. and on second thought not interested in men just interested in me for my car either. But I love this car.

To be honest I never expected you lot to say anything but do it. This is an S2000 forum after all.

 

Just for what it's worth, I'm single (well have a bird, but I don't live with her and neither does she drive anyway), the S is my only car, and although I have only had it for about 5 weeks I have had no problems running it as my 'daily'.
Bonus is, no more 'Can you give me and my friend and her baby a lift into town' scenarios from the girlf.

I had the 'can I afford it' thoughts before I bought mine. I was worried that running such a car and paying for my mortgage and bills alone would break the bank.
Around this time unfortunately a friend of mine died aged just 35 of cancer which made me re-evaluate things.
Basically I said '**** it'. You could be dead next week, just buy the car'. If I find in 12 months time or whatever things are a bit tight then I can always sell it.
Fingers crossed this will not happen..

Basic rules of the S

 

Do it only if you can afford it. Remember things like insurance, road tax, servicing, tyres and so on, as well as petrol of course, all of which will be more than the Fiesta, try to work out how much more and then decide. It has to be a head as well as a heart decision.

It's more than fine for a single person, you can get loads of stuff into the boot if you make sure you buy the right size bags, and if you're on your own, the passenget seat is great.

A boot rack is a useful addition if you have something particularly large to carry

Thanks will do some serious sums soon. At least I have prevented its disposal in the immediate term. I need to work out a solution with The Man now.

 

Thats just wrong

 

I went from being a couple with an S2000 for fun, a Passat Estate for practicality and towing and a racing car for thrills to just the S2000 and singledom.

You cope. To move house it's easier to either get someone to do it for you or borrow a more practical car. For trips to the tip/DIY store/holidays you either make it fit (soft bags etc,) or you get friends to help - it's surprising how few times I needed the extra space as a singleton and when I did there were always ways around the problem.

You're also the designated driver a lot less too

 

I avoided the "pulling" angle because it's crass and immature.










(and not because I would be such a great endorsement for that )

 

I had the S for years of singledom and don't think I ever needed a larger car or thought it was inconvenient.

Now i've got the 'vette and an estate and a hatchback - can't get two greyhounds in a 2 seater.

I think you adjust to the car you choose.
