S is going!
My car is being picked by it's buyer next Saturday and I need a new car.
Unfortunately my situation dicatates taht I have 6K to play with, therefore a drop in performance is inevitable.
I'm after a good reliable car, preferably with a little poke, but nothing extreme, if possible with good fuel economy due to me travelling 600 miles every weekend. Any thoughts would be welcome.
The cars I've considered are:
Scooby : No, due to running costs and high milage of car for the price
Peugot 306 GTI-6 : found one for

Call the buyer and tell them you've had an attack of conscience and the S you sold them is actually two cars welded together and that they didn't ought to buy it, then go out and play in the S and think what you almost did...
only kidding... with the mileage you're doing i would err on the side of realiability in which case i would go with the Audi, not gonna set the world alight but reasonable running costs and peace of mind.
Good luck.

How about a Honda Civic Jordan 1.6 VTi? A couple in autotrader between 4-6.5k - one on there with 44k miles 99 plate.
Audi TDi excellent fuel economy, Golf GTi poor fuel economy if its the 180bhp models.
Astra Coupe should be ok - 1.8 as opposed to the 2.2

Mitsubishi FTO.
I'm going the other way, but if you like the high revving nature of the S2K, you'll also love the FTO (dare I say it but the FTO engine is even better as it's a V6). Not a great deal slower either. You should be able to get a good one for 6K (my 2000 model sold for 7K). Just be sure to get a manual (most are autos), and you want a GPX or GPvR that has Mivec (Mitsi's version of VTEC).

One of my work colleagues is selling her GTi-6 - very tempting motor, but I don't have an excuse to buy one.
200SX is not a bad buy - ones you see are normally in good nick.
