Nice cars, there's a lovely blue one near me that belongs to a guy on Pistonheads, worth reading his car profile for an idea of costs. Engine rebuilds are pretty much a certainty every 50,000 miles or so, budget 2-3 grand. If anything else goes wrong it will be

It's my mate Andy who owns it (Bobbeh's brother). I've asked him to lose the front fogs, but he won't. They don't look that hot IMO.
The only problem with Andy's Rex is the driver. Other than that, it looks good, sounds awesome and should stick to the black stuff like the proverbial.

Hehe wasn't me at the shell station - unless I turned Japanese over night!
Don't be fooled by the horror stories about rebuilds.. yes you have to get them done but on average they are every 60,000 miles and some even have been known to go to 90,000 so you can hardly grumble about a 2.5k rebuild cost on those stats imo
Yes they are quite thirsty but as every other sports car is. If you're worried about MPG get a Yaris diesel I use mine as a daily driver going 30 miles a day and only fill it up every two weeks - so hardly that bad is it..
One thing you might want to consider if you are thinking of them are servicing. You won't want to take it to a garage as most mechanics won't touch them so if you live near a specialist that maybe handy.
Mike I removed those fog lights about 6 months ago you silly bast
I'm emigrating to New York next year so my car is up for sale but I'd never sell it if I didn't have to. Sadly New York is too anal about importing them but it's a car that's made me grin every time I've driven it. I'd say go for one or at least drive one - I'm gonna find it hard to beat that car for fun.
I do always give s2000 owner a wave but sadly a lot of them aren't as receptive as nickrg3. Sadly a lot of them see a spoiler and them "oh Jesus what has he done to that car". Sadly the narrow mindedness doesn't span to the fact it was an ex drift car and usually it helps to have some down force when drifting. But they wouldn't know that as their s2000 is the best thing on the road and everything else is crap right? especially (god forbid) if they have done any modding to it!
If you want to know anything about rx7s from my perspective please gimmi a shout I'll be more than willing to tell you anything I know.
cheers
Andy

Gad, you need to see the car on the road mate.
Nothing will convince me about that front end.
It is ghastly.

They do it on the way to work and back.
They also seem to have an incredibly unfortunate affinity with diesel on the road.
I like them personally.
They have provided me with hours of amusement.

OMG!
The RX7 is, IMHO, one of the most attractive cars to ever come out of Japan, but what awful, dreadful, appalling....bwaauuuggg!....indignities have been inflicted on the poor cars pictured above.
Truly criminal.

I know a few S2000 owners who have had affinities with diesel and ended up kart wheeling their cars *no names*
Again comments like that just reinforce my judgement on the s2k "community"
