Rusty grills?
I have had my grilles for nearly a year, bought 2nd hand from AB. They don't seem to have taken to the transition fro AB's heated garage and rain dodging lifestyle to mine of no garage and tons of Yorkie water.
I have had to re-paint and lacquer them at least three times to cover up rust patches, and just 3 weeks after doing it yet again they are beginning to rust already
So my point is that I can't be arsed to paint them again, but I don't want to buy some more if the same thing is going to happen. So before I go and buy a new set from Grille Tech has anyone else experienced rust and am I just wasting money or did I just get a bad set?

After 16 months or so and the best part of 25,000 miles, my Grille Tech grilles were pretty much as new when I removed them last week, Marc.
(Which reminds me, I must parcel them up to send to comqsat )

My brake duct grills are starting to show some. I am a bit pi***d off as I have been careful to clean / dry them.
I guess being outside and the winter has caused it.

As I said in the original Grill Tech group buy - these grills are made of mild steel and will rust. If you want rust-free grills, buy the Coastal Metals versions - all components made from stainless steel and much nicer IMHO.

I understand that they are Stainless now, I think mine are from a very old batch
EDIT: Think I just completely made that up, it says carbon steel on the Grille tech site.....anyone know what this means?

My old ones were fine, travelled about 45,000 in 12 months and were still in good condition. The only spot of rust, which came off was from the screws holding the side grilles in the brake ducts.
My new ones look stunning, i prefer the diamond style
