Running Costs
Hi!
Went for a test drive yesterday in an 03 S2000.
Absolutely love it! Completly differnt then what I thought it would be, the engine is great, revs and revs! Very differnt from my WRX.
What are the running costs with the s2000?
Average miles to a full tank?
Service costs?
Cheers!
Is this a good deal, S2000 GT - with hard top & stand, 03, 4k miles,

Price is fair. It will be significantly cheaper to run than the Scoob. It is built for everyday driving and costs reflect that. Looking at 200-250 miles per tank of fuel with plenty of fun along the way
Servicing yes,

What Scooby you got?
I swapped out of an 02 Bugeye WR Blue WRX after havng it for 6 months. The car performed well but was not thrilling, it accelerated and cornered so well and efficiently that the lack of feedback left you wanting something extra. It felt to me like a hi-powered rep mobile, perfect for getting you around this country on any road in any weather, perfect for the Police or Doctors to use but hardly inspiring for a real fun driving.
In a word - CHAV
The girls at work called me "Kev boy" and no nice ladies checked me out when I drove the chav chariot In fact it was only the Police who took any notice!
Now the S2000 is a different story - so much more fun, chuck the roof down when you want and get it up before you get wet. 240 BHP thru the back wheels with no gay toys to control the power
The ladies love it - no more kev boy for me - I feel a lot classier and I enjoy the car so much more than the scoobs.
Running costs are less than the equivalent scoob, Turbo's eat petrol so does Vtec so the mpg should be similar on a standard WRX, STi or PPP cars probably get less miles than the S. Not too much to worry about as you'll have a couple of years warranty so don't expect anything other than service costs for those years, make sure your tires are good shape as this will probably be the most expensive work you'll face.
All in the all they are very different cars that appeal to different people, I thought I was a scooby person but I'm clearly not!
In an ideal world (and I still love my V-tec!!) I'd be up for an boxer turbo AWD engined S2000 - same BHP but turbo fun plus AWD system in the S body shell would be a lot of fun! If it was not too lardy.

But BHP improvements are costly no cheap sports exhaust or pressure boost!!! But airbox lid removal for free can scare WRX owners with the noise on 9000 rpm full chat
Show me how and tell me it done hurt my car and I'll be out in the office car park ripping my airbox lid off in no time at all!

2. Find airbox
3. Find the 6 (?) silver clips around the edge.
4. Unclip them (they are held in place)
5. Put airbox cover in boot.
6. Add VTEC to taste
It sounds veeeeeeeery good, but you may notice a slightly squishy throttle response.
