I found the vtec kick to be smoother than what I had expected in the stock car as well and thus a little bit of a dissapointment. However, when I fitted the T1-R it really chanced the vtec cross-over point. With the T1-R on she'd properly hitch up her knickers
I had this same impression when I first got mine. I had a b16a2 civic before with a great exhaust and intake, and the VTEC crossover was very noticeable. Then I got the S and I was wondering if VTEC was working.

The difference soon became clear though - the b16a with the intake sounded impressive at VTEC cross over, while the S was impressive at VTEC cross over. I kind of like the smooth quiet pull up to 9K, not really being sure when the big power actually comes in while scooting around at scary speeds quite quickly. Only thing though, you don't get to enjoy that everyday in traffic, where as turbo and high torque cars you get to enjoy their punch every few seconds.

Anyone got any times, with gears and a T1R?

T1R IMO probably the best SPipe exhaust for actually getting some exhaust gains

Kenny, was it not just the sound that made the VTEC feel harder IYSWIM?

Its like taking the airbox lid off, its such a roar sometimes it feels like its a harder kick

No definately not just the sound. The free-flowing nature of the exhaust really made a difference at the higher rpm. It might have even been a bit weaker below vtec with the exhaust. The difference between 8-9000rpm compared to stock was quite noticable IMHO.

I also find VTEC crossover less "pronounced" with the T1R.

Less pronounced? Is that a typo? I'm saying I found the switch more pronouced as in more obvious.
