[QUOTE=S2000ph,Jan 17 2005, 04:37 PM] Also while i was there i looked at an '03 S2K which they have for sale, to see if it's wheels were any better/different.

I don't think it makes any difference on pre 04's what year the alloys are though there are two slightly different designs. Pre and post 02 revisions.
I also suspect the problem may rear its head on 04 alloys in the next 12 months

I need to do some tender examination of one of my wheels as it's either a little corroded or its dirt sealed in under the wheel wax, but that sounds dubious to me.
How does one go about getting wheels refurbed / polished up, especially for only

Sounds like you've got pre02 wheels. Shows a pic to confirm. Maybe Honda changed them under warranty before and put the wrong ones on .
confused ...me too!!

I have got an 03 and my wheels have been fine, but the centre caps were replaced after 20k. New centre caps are still fine and I am on 31k now. Think it also depends how much you clean your wheels, but I do agree that the wheels are of very poor quality and it should be interesting to see how the 04's fair.

hehehe.....i've had some fun with the Dealer
Avonvale Honda denied that there had been any changes to the wheels as I said that I thought they were pre-02 wheels on a 53 car. (Bear in mind this car was their demonstrator and only just 1 year old)!
Anyhow took the car to my local Honda dealer (Marshall in Peterborough) who photographed the wheels and sent piccies off to Honda for a warranty claim.
2 days later the new wheels were delivered and the car went in to have them fitted, and lo and behold they WERE different to the ones taken off the car i.e. they NOW have polished flats
Thanked Marshalls profusely who also pointed out that the old wheels exhibited signs of 're-furb' and also that the front tyres (Dunlops) were only V rated and 'non-directional' i.e. very wrong for the car (and these tyres were fitted by Avonvale Honda)!!!!
Anyhow called Avonvale again and handed out a right bollocking to a now 'not so cocky' Sales Manager who has agreed a new set of PROPER tyres all round
SO the motto of the story is:

Thanks guys

You must make sure that the car has the right tyres on. Check the Tech faq now (in my sig) there is a section on tyres.
Loads of people have been given wrong tyres by the dealers, not all Bridgestone S02s are the same. Get the codes from the faq and check before you accept the car back.
