Default Rubber trim treatment - leaves marks on windows!

Hi everyone

I have treated the rubbers on the roof where the windows shut against them with the honda silicone stuff in a tube (shin-etsu or whatever its called!).

These rubbers are now leaving greasy marks on my side windows when the doors are closed.

So - have I overdone it with the grease? Does it take some time to dry? How can I stop it leaving marks now?

*sigh* this detailing lark is hard work!!

You might have overdone it a tad - it doesn't need much.

Try wiping off the excess from the rubbers with a cloth - the rest will wear off your window glass in time.

Perfectly normal after a fresh application. Wipe off the glass if it annoys you. I don't bother any more!

To be honest you cant overdo the seals they will soak it up, it just takes a week for them to do so. Its worth while in the long run as they will stop the rain getting in. I wouldn't call it detailing, its more maintenance. Oh and top them up every three months, that includes the boot and bonnet.

Agreed - that you shouldn't worry about marks on the window. I'd rather a few grease marks than leaking seals.

Did exactly the same two weeks ago but will live with it if it keeps the seals in good condition!
