Default Roof Clasp Broken

Doh, went out in the car on Saturday and when I went to put the roof down the handle would no longer latch closed. It still works when the roof is up but I no longer need to press the button to open it, and I can't imagine it's entirely safe holding the roof closed without the latch. Further inspection revealed the plastic bit for the latch on the floor on the passenger side.

I'm going to call a couple of brokers because a search suggests it's 100+ quid from a dealer, but just thought I'd post on the offchance that someone here has a spare one they'd like to sell me?

Is this a common problem or am I too rough with my roof?

Never heard of that before, but many people end up changing the catch anyway as it gets looser. I'm sure I ordered mine from the dealer's and it was no-where near that price (or did that include fitting).

Fit it yourself def if it does, very easy. Should have no problem getting them from breakers

Assuming you are out of warranty?

Some people got their strikers replaced under warranty, it would be worthwhile at least asking local dealer?

It happened to me. The dealer said too that they had never heard of that one before and everyone on here too.
Welcome to a very exclusive club.
I was told not to drive above 60mph with roof up until fixed as it may damage the roof and twist it. However it stayed dry while parked in a storm.

I got my money back from the extended warranty company. So if you are covered, go to the dealer and don't hang about.

Thanks all... No extended warranty unfortunately, so no freebies.

Does anyone know if the clasps from a MY00 would fit my MY02 without problem? I have an offer of some used ones and want to check they'll work ok.

Don't think the clasps have changed. If in doubt just give your local dealer a call.

Sorry to bring this up again - been trying to confirm that MY00 and MY02 have the same part but without a MY00 chassis number the stealers won't tell me! Anyone know the part numbers or can find one out for their MY00?

Thanks!

Take a look here:
Majestic Honda

Page shown is for MY2002, see item #'s 60 + 61
569337 060 1 LOCK ASSY., R. HANDLE NO COLOR 100.50
569339 061 1 LOCK ASSY., L. HANDLE NO COLOR 100.50

Prices in $

You can search again for different model years and see if the item number is the same.

Just did the search myself MY2000 below:
205221 060 LOCK ASSY., R. HANDLE NO COLOR 73.12
205222 061 LOCK ASSY., L. HANDLE NO COLOR 73.12

Different code/different price!

Thanks for that, really appreciate the pointer!

Looks like I'd better get a model specific one...
