Default Rolling Road Results

Pretty new here as you can see from the post count
for those that aren't aware the only thing mine has in comparison to most cars on here is the engine.

anyway the cars as near as dammit finshed and is of on the rolling road on friday to be mapped. now while the top end figure is great for pub talk i'm more interested in the mid range etc.

so far from searching through several posts i've found that i should maybe expect to see at the wheels around 200bhp @ 8300rpm although from one dyno plot i've seen the car is pretty tame with only 130bhp @ 5800rpm then rising sharply thereafter.

just interested to know what other cars have made and with what mods so i can judge whether the car is up to scratch or not.

spec list of the car so far:-

Even if you only made 245 hp with a kerb weight of 611 KG you would have a p/w/r of 407!

Standard car produces ~ 190bhp at the rear wheels.

I have only ever had one dyno run and that was with Mugen CAI, Mugen Manifold, Amuse exhaust and de-cat:

Hmmm,

Manifold sounds interesting The gains on these cars need a combo of mods it seems. I would think you can get to 200 with the manifold, filter and custom map (depending on mapper )

Ive read a little of the Hydra ECU. Are TSL mapping it?

There is a very good thread on the US section which ive been chipping in on. Its people aiming for 230 rwhp. I think a lot of them are dreaming tbh, but there's a car with some J's racing parts on there that has made close to that. Basically an intake, throttle body (dont see the point as the rest of it is a restriction then) J's ECU, manifold and zorst.

Certainly single exit seems to give some gains.

Would also aim to lower VTEC engagement to 5500 ish, but only if you get the mapping right!

the Guy who's mapping it is a former Motec europe chap, he left there and set up his own business called tracktive, he come's very highly recomended having worked on several top cars including a twin busa turbo'd ultima with an expected 1000bhp along with the original twin engined tiger car which once held the 0-60 world record as driven by tiff.
that's amongst all the competetive race cars he works on too.

i'll let you know how i get on. a decent ecu correctly mapped can be worth loads when on the road,
just remember it's not all about top end, i'd rather have a consistent 180bhp at the wheels than 150bhp for most the rev range and then peaking at 200 for a few hundred revs.

True true

TangoMan has a lot of Mugen mods and while they do nowt for the top end, the rest of the curve is pretty fat!

Very interested in the mapping part, can you keep me posted? Do Hydra do an S2000 loom or have you been hacking and soldering?!

The engine side of the s2000 loom was modded by by Richard himself to mate to the ecu.
all in the cost of the loom and ecu was just under

Jees, the benefit of space has allowed a nice looking design manifold!

Looks like nice bend sweeps and some good welding on the joins.

Good luck!

Just got back for prosport in stockport.
took a long time to get it mapped due to exhaust problems, 1st of i needed to get a lamba sensor boss welding in for mapping then once it was sorted the engine refused to pull after 6000rpm, this was caused by the end discs in the supertrapp can, once tehy were removed the engine then revved freely all the way to 9000rpm.
the only other problem was the car was accelerating too fast for the roller due to the car being so light, we tried with 2 people sat in the car and then me hanging on to the rollbar supported by the boot, then we added some compound softener to the tyres to help traction, even after all that the car was still losing traction at 7000rpm
still even with this problem the car still had 228bhp at 8300rpm and 161ftlb's, 150 of which were available from 4000rpm right through to just over 7500rpm. the power curve was as straight as an arrow once mapped. hopefully next time i'll have stickier tyres to help the rollers keep up.
