Rocker Cover - Needed painting
Well, my rocker was a right mess as you can see here
So I removed it, then stripped it back, then etch primed it
Then applied several coats of Chrysler Viper GT5 Blue which I had mixed up for me by a local shop.
Then applied several coats of lacquer and sprayed the coil cover a HONDA silver and put everything back and ended up with this
and this ...
and this
and again
and another
Then I detailed the car in readiness for the Oulton Park Gold Cup tomorrow.
I learnt a lot of things when I did this job, one of the things I learnt is you can never have enough friends, many thanks to Ron and Ray for their support.

Good effort. I did the same last summer and it makes such a difference to the engine bay. A polished crossmember cover from Kim would look great now and would compliment your intake well too

Cheers Si,
Paint stripper, I bought some cheap stuff from B&Q which worked very well, stripped right back to the metal
I used #8 etch primer once I had the rocker back to base metal, this is an important step as it will stop the new paint flaking (apparently) be careful with it, it's nasty stuff and it also reacts with the metal on immediate contact in a chemical way, no need for multiple coats just a proper good dusting (It should look like my second picture).
I had a local professional paint shop mix two paints for me the silver and the blue and bought a '2k' professional lacquer for the finish.
Applied several (probably 5 coats) of base then probably 4 coats of lacquer following the instructions on the aerosols.
Hope this helps.
