A Rivet In My Rear Tyre !
On Saturday I noticed rivet stuck in my rear tyre.
I took it to a tyre shop and they told me it will have to be a new tyre as its in the corner. I've only had the car since April, from new, so I'm not to pleased.
The tyre hasn't gone down at all yet, and I was wondering how thick are the tyre walls ? The rivet has gone in right at the edge and its gone in straight so I don't think its actually punctured thought to the other side. Now I 've snipped off the top of the rivet it isn't in contact with the road at all.
If I pulled it out and it didn't go down should I just leave it, or am I increasing my risk of having a blow out ?
Also if I change one rear should I change both, I've done 4500 miles so far ?
Also what is a good price for stock rears on a 04 ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!
Regards Oliver
PS this is the 3rd time I've had punctures in rear tyres in a year, either I'm being very unlucky or someone is doing it on purpose.

I certainly wouldn't drive the car with the rivet still in the tyre. I would pull it out as you may have to replace the tyre anyway. I picked up this in my tyre a couple of months ago:
I would check the tyre tread depth alongside a new tyre. I would replace both tyres for peace of mind, keep your good tyre as a spare in case it happens again.
Not sure how much '04 tyres are, sorry.

too risky to leave it as it is. Unfortunately it's probably best to replace both sides at once also. I am guessing you won't notice much difference in the dry with one worn and the other new, but in the wet, one will shed much less water than the other - not what you want in a 240 bhp RWD.

Blowout is unlikely unless the tyre is under a lot of stress, so I wouldn't worry too much, better get it replaced soonish though
