Default Revs dropping when in neutral

I have had my S for about 3 months now, and have noticed a strange quirk.

When I am neutral and rev the car gently, the revs drop to a point where it feels its goning to stall... It never does, and then returns to a constant tick over... I have to say that I have never noticed any other car do this , and the near stall juddering is disconcerting.

Is this normal, or is my car in need of dealer attention ?

Cheers,

Paul.

I`ve seen that once or twice......it never does stall and it only loses about 100-200 revs, but you can tell.

Someone mentioned on another thread recently (can't remember which one though) that the S2000 has a very small flywheel which is the cause of this - I get it on mine too. I guess if the flywheel is small then the engine slows quicker(?) therefore returning to idle can have an "overrun" effect as the EMU tries to settle it at idle speed - now I might be talking complete bollox but hey it sounds feasible right?!!

I experienced a bout of this just after I had my engine replaced (lasted a day or so), but it then disappeared and I haven't noticed it since

I noticed my car had the same problem earlier today when I started from cold. I blipped the throttle (gearbox in neutral, handbrake on) to about 1500RPM and as the revs came down the car seemed to shudder a little (as if it was about to stall) but came through in the end.

Is this 'normal'? Do others have the same problem?

I can't say that I've seen the same thing happen when the car is warm....

Cheers,

Ash

Mine did this on occasion (or probably more accurately, I noticed on occasion). Never bothered trying tp fix it as it never actuallys stalled.

Leave alone if it isn't happening (or you're not noticing) all the time

Hmmmm.... the car is due its 9k mile service in 2 weeks - I'll ask the dealer to take a look (or do you think they might make things worse )

Ask them and they'll probably say nothing wrong. Can't hurt.

Or they might come back with
"your disks are corroded and the pads are low, they need replacing - Sir!"

BTW I have noticed it on my 04 occasionally never saw it on my 00.
As the phrase goes if it ain't broke don't fix it!

When it goes for the service, I am having the ing "feature" which activates the headlamp washers at the same time as the windscreen washer, deactivated. My centre caps are corroded too so they're being replaced hopefully...

Apart from that the car's fine....!
