Just got mine from Chiswick honda - they take you out in the Moonstone 04 with full Mugen pipes? Also has the brand new headlight protector lenses on it, the DP was asking for my feedback on those, and I like em!

Whilst I was there the service manager was talking about the Mugen demo car, he's been driving the S2k for 3/4 years and said he feels the Mugen can become too much at times. He was driving back from a party with his trouble and strife late in the morning and he said it just got annoying. Just get a standard S2k and you'll be fine. My new 03 is far more refined and loads less noisy than the 01/02's that I've been in and you'll only be cruising in 6th at 90 so noise should be fine!

I had a GT before and too be honest I had no use for it - the wind noise with the soft top up is kept to a minimum so you should have no worries there either.

Just get one activated and you'll be a happy chappy!

I think I must be in a minority about the 2.2l engine. I do love the 9000 redline, but I WANT a 2.2l. Its been widely proven on the US Forum that it has been dyno'd at 260+bhp and I think I would adjust to the lower rev limit as the new engine would be great fun.

I love to work the F20C and scream up to 9000 rpm, but sometimes (only somtimes) the lack of torque does my head in. A good example would be at 50mph and waiting to overtake... 3rd gear and you have to wait until you hit 60 and then VTEC, or 2nd gear and its screaming at 7500-8000rpm and not worth using due to the extra gear change.

My car goes in April 2006 and I am praying for 2 things:

1. Honda are still making the S2000.
2. Honda indroduce the 2.2l engine.

If anyone is interested I had my car on the dyno last week....along with some other S2000 owners in Chicago.

Conditions were far from ideal so figures werent the best - it was 90degrees outside and over 100degrees in the shop itself.

Most of the 00-03 models (stock F20C) dynoed around 180-195rwhp

Another '04 member got 205rwhp

Mine was 3rd of the day (and most powerful N/A) @ 209rwhp
my only mod was a magnaflow exhaust

The 2nd was a supercharged 03 @ 260ish at the wheels

The 1st was another supercharged 03 putting out 284 rwhp.
btw...on his second run he hit the nitrous and ran @ 315rwhp

All in all, the 2.2L put a good 15-20rwhp over the F20C, am Im just looking forward to the autumn and some cooler weather when I will be able to get a more representative figure.

If you want my opinion - I LOVE the new 2.2L engine. Love the low end power, the torque and responsiveness....only downside is vtec band isnt as long - runs from approx 5800 through till 8200 (actually it pushes past the red to about 8500 before hitting the limiter).

Boy do I miss my 9ks though!!

thanks for this.

I really suspected that the Mugen pipes made much more noise but the salesman could not confirm nor did they have a 'standard' 04 for me to test. The one they did have was only in that state for half a day before it got Mugened ...

I was not going for the GT .. I have no space for a hardtop in my flat, and I can't bear the thought of wanting the roof down and not being able to on those winter days when the sun's out and it's crisp.

I may wait till Oct to see what they do about 05 model ... I suspect Honda needed to use up stocks of the 2L engine before switching the whole world to the 2.2L.

A good point. I personally would like to see a 2.2 with more torque, if Honda release the 05 with this engine I would have to seriously consider getting one...

I think the correct term for it is MUGENISED! (or Mugenized here!)
