Yeah but unless you're a fatty who continually hauls themself over the bar ... you're not going to miss it or need it By the time it has collapsed and the foam has worn away, you have to ask yourself what purpose it serves - in terms of fit - both bases are completely interchangeable

I noticed no differences in mine and mine was split very deeply.

On the to do list.

What glue is safe to use on this sponge?

Don't want to watch it all dissolve.

I mentioned high density foam to my Dad and he suggested the sanding blocks you can buy from Poundland (10 for £1). He's given me an example and it does seem quite dense. Would they be of use, perhaps even leaving the sanding surface on the block to provide greater resistance to the slicing effect of the metal bar in the bolster?

You just need something that the bar can't wear through - gaffer tape is perfect for this - excellent armour covering for the underside of the repaired bolster.

You don't want an abrasive surface like that rubbing on the inside of the leather seat cover.

Don't worry, I was intending to slice off the abrasive surface and then wondered whether I should leave on the surface only where it interfaces with the metal bar. Sounds like a recipe for disaster though and so I'll stick with the gaffa tape

Have a look on fleabay for high density foam. I'm planning to repair my bolster when my seat heaters arrive from the group buy in the for sale thread.

If you search for heated seats on here there is a guide with pics on how to strip the seats down, it really is very simple. Defo fit some heated elements whilst you have them apart as this makes the world if difference to driving comfort. A word of advice though, when your removing the foam from the aluminium seat base, handle it very carefully as the edges are like razor blades as my poor index finger found out. On the plus side the nurse that stitched it back together was pretty fit.
