Repair roof vandalism
Hi guys, so found out my roof got vandalised last night. Some twat decided it would be funny to cut a big hole in my roof...
Just wondering what's the best way of repairing this to make sure it lasts through winter? I don't want to buy a replacement just yet in case it happens again.
Here is the hole, it's in the original roof (which is otherwise in immaculate condition - gutted )

Hi mate.
Sorry to see this. Some people have no respect for others.
The best way to repair this would be to find out who did it, skin them alive and the use their flesh to fill the hole and seal it.
On a serious note. You could use a patch repair. Or a few. I would buy another roof though if its unrepairable.

What kind of patches / wheres the best place to get a patch from? I'm not sure what material would be best - I know people say the original roof is "vinyl" but it's not really is it? it's still a fabric of some description and not plastic like an MX-5 roof for example.

It's a man made woven fibre , you can see this along the edges of the rip/cut.
I had small rip in mine for years .
First I sewed the rip with black thread, over and under is the best description I can give for the way I did it .
I then used a puncture rep air kit on the inside to water proof the joint made sure the rubber solution was in the joint also
It was ok for about 4years in all weathers , maybe I was lucky , who knows!

I'd get a quote tbh, it needs what chimpo suggests, stitching and sealing.
A few on here break cars and might have some spare material

Give jack smith in Swansea a call to see what he does with the old roofs and get a square cut off one and stick it on. Have you a dive shop near you. See what they can offer for dry suit repair glue.

Thanks guys - I've got duct tape on there at the moment (only thing in the house) and I cut some tarpaulin to cover the whole roof over night in case it rains - and have ordered a repair kit from Stormsure.
I live in central Reading - it happened outside my house. Unfortunately, I live on a main road so a lot of people walking in / out of town on a night out will walk past my car, and being orange with a personalised plate it does attract a lot of attention.
