Default Removing SRS control unit

Hey guys.

Need help.
I've recently put my original steering wheel and tried the SRS reset a few times bit the light won't go off.
Firstly with aftermarket seats am I right in thinking that these won't cause the light to stay on.
Secondly would completely removing the unit help at all?

Cheers
Chris

Yep, help you fail your MOT for certain.

Seriously though you neet to find out what code the fault it's throwing up and off the shelf code readers either don't read SRS code or won't reset them. does the light go off at all for a few seconds or does it stay on regardless? A good auto electrician will get the code for you for a fee, don't go to Honda unless you have no alternative as they charge loads of beans just to read it. There are loads of owners on here with aftermarket seats and I've not heard of any problems as a result. I would guess the seat belt indicator/switch wouldn't cause a problem as if you start the car whilst you are not sitting in it the SRS light won't come on.
My moneys on a poor conection to the steering wheel.

Is this the procedure you are following-

"Did i read wrong and you installed an aftermarket steering wheel? If so the light will not go off if the airbag is out. If not then turn off ignition insert jumper in plug turn key on while light is on like in the first 2 seconds remove jumper light should blink then reinsert jumper and remove it again then the light should go off, it takes right timing. I believe that is the correct sequence."

I recently had a similar problem where the airbag/SRS light wouldn't go out.

Had it hooked up to a diagnostic tool and no error codes whatsoever. Normally good news, but not that time.

So back to square one...

I tried the ECU reset by removing the fuse, as shown in the Technical FAQ post. But light remained on!

Finally, I tried this - SRS Light Reset

You may have already tried this as you mentioned the SRS reset.

However, it can be tricky. The first time I tried, it didn't work. But another go following the instructions in the link worked a treat!

Hope it also works for you, as I understand the frustration.

I'd like to see where that is in the Tech FAQ.

And the procedure you posted is exactly the same as in my post above.

Post #4 in Technical FAQ v2.1:

"The ECU reset!
This leads nicely onto the ECU reset... Dont reset the ECU until you have extracted any codes from it. If the car is misbehaving, an ECU reset can often put things right. The ECU does not learn your driving style, but it does store fuelling trends / trims and idle info etc. By resetting the ECU, it wipes its fuelling trim memory and idle control."

Apologises, your post was not visible at the point I hit add reply. Took me a while to find the link/instructions I used.

Hopefully it'll help get the light off anyways.

That part of the FAQ is about engine management, ECU = engine control unit, the SRS = suplimentary restraint system, has its own black box its seperate so it cant be tampered with say by fitting an after market ECU, or in the case of the EPS a later addition.

And apologies I didn't realise my post wasn't up when you posted.

Yep, I realise that now and that's exactly why it didn't work. However, at the time in my frustration I read it was something to try, so I gave it a go.

Thankfully I then found that link and it worked a treat.

Who knew seeing an airbag/SRS light turn off could bring you so much joy!

I had a CRX (del sol type) before the S, it had an SRS light on for ages the code referred to the passenger air bag, as it didn't have one I never worried.
